In this episode of The Rowdy Alternative, host Sam Burgh sits down with Chan Kinchla, legendary guitarist of Blues Traveler and the creative force behind his new side project, W4HORS3. Chan reflects on the evolution of the music industry from the late '80s to today, sharing stories from Blues Traveler’s grassroots beginnings, their place in jam band culture, and how the live music scene has changed over the decades. He dives into the contrast between recording on tape in the '90s and modern production techniques, and explains how the pandemic inspired the formation of Warhorse. Chan also unpacks the concept behind Warhorse’s new album—centered on a rogue robot following music waves through space—and his personal goals for 2025, including pushing his vocal abilities and continuing to grow as a musician. This episode is a blend of history, creativity, and a deep passion for authentic musical expression.
